Sotheby’s Geek Week History of Science & Technology Sale håller på i New York. Bland de exklusiva saker som auktioneras ut finns en tidig Apple-1 i så gott som perfekt skick. Den förväntas få ett pris på 400 – 600 tusen USD med ett aktuellt bud just nu på 350 tusen USD.
Just denna Apple-1 kommer från den första serie på 50 exemplar som Steve Jobs och Steve Wozniak med vänner monterade ihop i Jobs föräldrars garage. Den nuvarande ägaren Tom Romkey ägde en datorbutik i Florida och bytte 1981 in klenoden mot en ny PC. Sedan packade han undan den i nästan 40 år vilket gör att den är helt i original och mycket lite använd.
