Historien om hur Disneys chef Michael Eisner som trodde Hitta Nemo skulle floppa åkte på pumpen mot kaxiga Steve Jobs. Mycket intressant läsning om turerna kring Disney och Pixar. Texten är ett utdrag ur den omtalade boken iCon som handlar om Steve Jobs.
Robert X. Cringely har en intressant vinkling (i slutet av artikeln) kring all uppståndelse iCon–boken åstadkommit. Apple plockade bort alla böcker utgivna av bokens förlag Wiley från sina Applebutiker. Bob X. tror inte detta beror på att Jobs skulle ha surnat till.
”As I’ve surmised before, Apple is trying to put together a high definition movie download service that requires content from all the major movie studios. If Steve looks soft on IP theft or unwilling to flex his corporate legal muscles, the studios may think he won’t adequately protect their corporate jewels. And that’s all it is. Steve couldn’t care less about this book.”
För övrigt blev all publicitet kring boken och Apple en hit för förlaget. Boken flög raskt upp på plats 144 i Amazons topplista.
