Du som inte riktigt är beredd att byta din halvfärska Mac Pro mot den allra senaste årgången, kan åtminstone smiska upp grafikprestandan rejält med nya ATI Radeon HD 5870. Officiellt stöds detta videokort endast av Mac Pro från början av 2009 och framåt, men det ska enligt uppgift fungera alldeles utmärkt även i äldre Mac Pro från 2008. Det enda man tycks få ge avkall på är stöd för Mini DisplayPort.

We can confirm that the 2008 and 2009 were able to drive our 23″ Cinema displays with the Mini DisplayPorts (using Apple’s Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter). I’m confident that the 24″ LED Cinema display and soon-to-be-shipping 27″ LED Cinema display will work fine as well.”
